Once Upon a Tom...

     Once upon a Tom in a far away land called WeHo, better known as West Hollywood, lived a lazy commoner by the name of Tom Schwartz. He lived merrily with his fair lady, Katie Maloney, in their small apartment near many of their friends. Everyone in this friend group worked at a local cavern named SUR Restaurant and Bar, short for Sexy Unique Restaurant Restaurant and Bar, owned by the queen of WeHo, Lisa Vanderpump. Except for Tom Schwartz. Because like I said, he is a lazy commoner. 

    Before this joyous life of Tom's began in WeHo, let's go back and talk about how this all came to be. Before moving to California, Tom Schwartz graduated from Florida State University. But he decided the right path for him would be to pursue a modeling career and moved out west. While searching for a place to live, he stumbled upon two village idiots by the names of Tom Sandoval and Jax Taylor. They all had so much in common from their occupational goals to their overall lack of motivation and willingness to settle for whatever was in front of them. Tom moved in with Tom and Jax, and because of this, Tom Schwartz's life changed forever. Tom Sandoval and Jax Taylor both courted two witches of WeHo named Kristen Doute and Stassi Schroeder. It wasn't long until Tom Schwartz met the third witch of WeHo, Katie Maloney (do you see where this is doing?) Tom and Katie fell into a deep and intense love and decided to move in together. Eventually, the others followed foot. Tom and Kristen moved in together, and so did Jax and Stassi.

    There were many memories and emotions shared between Tom and his friends. They laughed and cried with, screamed at, and betrayed each other constantly. But that's the way this group liked it, and they wouldn't change their lives, friends, and partners for anything in the world. All was well (kind of) until the cameras showed up at the Sexy Unique Restaurant.

    For over 10 years, Tom Schwartz has been a loved yet very controversial person. His goals and motivations are questionable at times but he also wins you over when he puts his best foot forward with his relationships. His goals shift from avoidance of commitment to being very invested in his work and relationship (again, kind of). As we dissect the seasons and development (or lack thereof) of Tom, I will touch on the wide range goals and motivations of Tom Schwartz.

    This show starts in 2011 and goes up until 2024 with most of the original cast. Vanderpump Rules was a huge stepping stone in the reality entertainment industry, and my personal opinion is that no show really compares to this one. Many people on reality shows live fairly normal lives outside of filming time, however this show started because the workers at SUR, (owned by Lisa Vanderpump of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) already had such crazy lifestyles and constantly wreaked havoc upon their workspace. So... Why not film the chaos?
